How to Choose Tuition Assignments

If you are a new tutor in Singapore,it would be often hard to choose what kind of assignments to take. There are often many factors to consider before committing to an assignment. You might have to worry on whether the rate of the assignment is adequate or whether you can manage the assignment. Although most tutors would consider the rate of the assignment being the number one priority, here are some other factors we feel that you should consider before you decide to commit to tuition. Distance The number one priority that should be on your mind should be the distance of the student’s house from your residence. The obvious reason being that you might have to travel to the tutees house once or even twice a week. It would be unwise not to consider the travelling time involved. For example, an hour of traveling time per tuition session could equate to 8 hours lost per month! Commitment Another factor to consider is whether you would be able to commit the amount of time which you agreed to per week. Due to the nature of home tuition, timings for tuition is flexible. However, the responsibility of the student's academics lie in your hands of you, the tutor. Hence please make sure you are able to regularly commit to the timings of the assignment before you decide to take on the assignment. Capability It would be advisable to find out as much as the assignment as much as possible before commencement. Find out from the coordinator how is the tutee is doing in school and judge for yourself whether you are capable enough to handle such a tutee. Many tutors take up assignments hastily, only to give up short after because they are unable to cope with the tutee. We hope that we have given you a better insight to what makes a better tutor.
